AS OF 600 AM PST FEBRUARY 23RD 2005...THE SEASONAL RAINFALL
TOTAL AT DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES/USC STANDS AT 33.87 INCHES. THIS
SURPASSES THE RAIN SEASON OF 1977-1978 WHEN 33.44 INCHES FELL.
THIS IS THE WETTEST SEASON SINCE 1889-1890...OR THE WETTEST IN
115 YEARS. THE AVERAGE RAINFALL FROM JULY 1ST THROUGH FEBRUARY
23RD IS 10.15 INCHES.
LESS THAN AN INCH OF RAIN (0.98 INCHES) IS NEEDED FOR THIS TO BECOME
THE SECOND WETTEST RAIN SEASON SINCE RECORDS BEGAN IN LOS ANGELES
IN 1877. SINCE THE SEASON DOES NOT END UNTIL JUNE 30TH...THIS
SEEMS VERY LIKELY TO HAPPEN. AND...JUST 4.32 INCHES OF RAIN MUST
FALL FOR THIS SEASON TO BECOME THE WETTEST IN RECORED HISTORY.
