WSI Intellicast Radar Precipitation Estimate for 24 hrs. Ending 12z 10/26/02 |
Weathernotes for Sunday, October 27, 2002A weak upper level low produced a few sprinkles in Southern California Friday afternoon and evening. Where there was rain, amounts were generally about 0.04" or less. Most of the weak dynamics associated with the system remained offshore of the L.A. basin as the low tracked along the coast, before moving inland over San Diego. This is reflected in the precipitation estimate from Intellicast for the 24 hr. period ending 12z 12/26/02. |
The El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) Diagnostic Advisory issued October 10, 2002, says "Moderate warm episode (El Niño) conditions continued during September.." Forecasts suggest that warm episode conditions are likely to continue into January 2003, with less certain conditions beyond that date. The Long Lead Precipitation Forecast, issued by the Climate Prediction Center October 17, continues to show an increased probability of above average precipitation in Southern California this Winter.
